I frequent the alt.fan.piers-anthony newsgroup and also PATH (the Piers Anthony Thread), and many times the question comes up about what books are available, what do people recommend for reading, etc. Usually they are pointed to the bibliography on Hi Piers. I thought it would be nice to put together a more complete bibliography of not only the popular or newer books, but newspaper and magazine articles, short stories, and many of the older novels as well. In addition, I am listing the rarer limited edition books, the ones you don't see too often. Also since I have a great many of my books autographed by Piers, those will be included in the listings too. With several samples of his autograph, you can help determine if the autographed book you are buying looks legitimate (without having to pay an autograph expert to verify it). Since I own over 300 Piers Anthony autographed items, many purchased or given me directly by Piers, I feel I have come to be somewhat of an expert at spotting forgeries. Standard Disclaimer: I am not a "certified" expert, and if you feel that you need one, please take the steps to retain someone certified. Make sure you choose one who is familiar with Piers' autograph. Just because they deal in autographs does not mean they have ever seen Piers' before. For example: I recently bought an autographed book from a reputable book dealer, who bought it in a lot from another reputable book dealer, and the autograph was so fake that the person who signed it did not even try to match Piers (probably never had a sample to work from). Because these were reputable dealers, I was able to return the book. But "let the buyer beware" as they say. And be careful of printed autographs. Many books and pictures are showing up with reproduced or printed autographs that look very much like the real things, but are being sold as genuine autographs. See the Hi Piers publicity photo for an example of a printed autograph. I will list values with the books and collectibles too. These will be the "estimated" values and should only be used as a general guide. You may be able to buy something for a fraction of the price I put on it, or you may have to pay an astronomical amount for something I put a low value on. I base the values on what I have seen the item sell for recently, or the present day estimate of something that sold years ago. I buy on eBay all the time so I watch what prices Piers' books are fetching. Ultimately, it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I am first and foremost a collector and I will be soliciting to purchase missing pieces for my collection. I will not falsely inflate or devalue a price because I am looking to buy. Finally, why am I calling it the Compleat Piers Anthony? Why not? Well actually, I use the word "Compleat" because I have seen it on book titles and thought it was rather neat. It has an English flavor (flavour) to it which is fitting since Piers was born in England, and it sort of says the site is "compleat" without really being complete (yet). Clear as mud right?
